I remember 80s coats were XL, with big backs, big shoulder pads and it was necessary to roll up the sleeves to avoid looking like the cast of Miami Vice.
When we talk about fashion and tendencies is common to say: I would never wear that blouse” or “I would never wear those pants” a great example of it, the 80s moms, I use to laugh about their hairdos and the shoulder pads, my mom told me that one day it would happen to me, I would see my old pictures and I would realize how fashion changes and sometimes it can be ridiculous.
The proof of it, my extra large raincoat, it has similar style to the one Richard Gere gave to Julia Roberts in Pretty Women, it seamed to me ridiculously big and now I love my Raincoat XL.
I bought my raincoat a few years ago but had not wore it before, because I felt fat with it (plus I had a few extra pounds) I decided to keep it deep in my closet hoping that one day I would like it.
The day has come! I found this gorgeous raincoat, I tried it on and I love the way it looks on me!
How head-turning fashion can be…
I wore my raincoat with a pair of back skinny jeans, a grey peplum shirt, and a pair of black ankle booties with a pair of glittery socks.
Socks with fun patterns are so in style right now, especially if they are over the shoes or if you wear them with sandals.
I’m going to take advantage of this rainy autumn till I juiced up my 80s looking raincoat.
My Recommendation:
Raincoats are timeless, I believe they have to be long lasting (at least 5 years) and they have to be your style, that is why a recommend to buy a neutral colored one and with a friendly shape.

Recuerdo que en los 80 los sacos eran XL con grandes hombreras, espaldas amplias y era necesario arremangarse las mangas para evitar parecer un integrante de Miami Vice.
Como siempre pasa en la moda y las tendencias solemos decir: “jamás me pondría esa prenda” o “jamás usaría esos pantalones”, un buen ejemplo son las mamás en los 80, me reía un poco de las hombreras y de los peinados, mi mamá solía contestarme que algún día me pasaría a mi, vería mis fotos de un par de años antes y me daría cuenta como cambia la moda y a veces te puede arrepentir.
La prueba máxima de esto es mi gabardina extra grande, tiene un estilo similar a la que Richard Gere le da a Julia Roberts en Pretty Women, a mi me parecía ridículamente grande y ahora amo la mía XL.
La compré hace unos años pero no la había usado, sentía que me hacia ver gorda (además tenia unos cuantos kilos de más ) decidí guárdalo en el fondo del closet esperando que algún día me gustara.
El día llego! me rencontré con esta gabardina la probé y me encantó como luce.
Las vueltas que da la moda.
Usé mi gabardina con unos jeans negros, una blusa péplum gris, unos botines negros y unos calcetines de diamantina.
Los calcetines con motivos divertidos están muy de moda, especialmente si se ven sobre los zapatos o se usan con sandalias.
Voy a aprovechar que la lluvias nos siguen sorprendiendo en este otoño y sacarle todo el provecho posible a esta gabardina con aires de los 80.
Mi Recomendación:
Las gabardinas son atemporales y creo que deben ser bastante duraderas (por lo menos 5 años) y de tu estilo, por eso recomiendo que compren un color neutro y un corte amigable.
