Corona Capital 2014
This was my 5th Corona Capital so proud!
I love music, my life literally has a soundtrack.
I’m always downloading music and creating new playlists on Spotify.
I grew up watching MTV and I still love watching music videos on the VEVO app.
The 2014 Corona Capital lineup was so awesome! Kings of Leon, Kasabian, Foster the People, MGMT, Weezer, Beck, The Horrors, Little Dragon, Sam Smith among other cool artists.
This year the weather has been crazy usually in Mexico City in October doesn’t rain but this year is till raining and is almost November, global warming sucks.
Anyway… thanks to these weather changes I was getting a cold just a few days before the biggest music festival in Mexico so I had to give up one day (Corona Capital lasts two days) I wanted to go on Saturday but I didn’t wanted to get sick before Kings of Leon on Sunday.
Luckily for me I didn’t miss anything on Saturday, the pouring rain socked wet the entire place and the people, it became an apocalypse scenario, nobody was ready for this weather, they had to postpone the concerts but sadly people thought they had canceled them, my brother, my sister and her boyfriend left the Corona, they only survivor was my little brother Santiago.
The next day everybody told me their experiences and I got scared maybe they wouldn't make it, I wanted to go so bad!
Even though we knew it was going to rain instead of being sacred we decided to go to the Home Depot and buy gardeners yellow raincoats, we were all set and of we went.
We got there really fast so we had a quick bite in the food trucks curt.
Every year my brothers and I divide in three groups:
My brother Tilo, my boyfriend and I.
My sister her boyfriend and their friends.
My little brother and his friends.
My group and I found our spot (we call our spot the right side of the stage) and we started the fun!
Minutes before Sam Smith a big grey cloud cover the entire Corona, we had to take out from our backpacks really fast our raincoats, the rain was pouring, thankfully we were fast, we has to way at least 40 minutes in the rain when we saw the Sam Smith’s crew bring out the instruments.
The rain was still sparkling when Sam Smith came out and started singing, he was so grateful to us for waiting in the rain for him to star the show.
Sam Smith has one of the greatest male voices in the world, he sang all the songs I wanted to hear, including Latch and Stay With Me, gorgeous voice.
Then we waited in our spot for Kasabian to start.
What an amazing show!
They are so talented, we where consumed by their energy, specially when the started singing Fatboy Slim, Praise You.
After 20 minutes Foster The People started with an amazing show and sound, I had so much fun dancing and jumping with my brother Tilo and My boyfriend.
At the end of Foster The People we had to move, we wanted to see Beck but is not our first time in the Corona Capital we know that it takes a least an hour to get to another stage, so we had to move on.
When we got to the main stage we waited for like an hour for the show to start, we enjoyed The Kooks playing in the stage bides us, while waiting I found my adorable cousin Regina! she was jus passing by, that almost never happens.
At the en of The Kook we moved (we where a bigger group) we found a big spot where we could breathe and dance (that is almost impossible in the Corona) unfortunately it a was a big mud hole but it was the best place for us, we end up having our sneakers, boot and rain boot socked in dark brown smelly mud, it was worth it.
We had so much fun and I truly believe that the rain and the mud wasn’t so bad at all.
Can’t wait for next year!
El lineup del Corona Capital 2014 estuvo increíble, Kings of Leon, Kasabian, Foster The People, MGMT, Weezer, Beck, The Horrors, Little Dragon, Sam Smith entre otros maravillosos artistas.
