66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

Best and Worst Dressed

I’m crazy about TV series, I even sometimes work watching old episodes from Friends, Sex and The City, How I met your Mother, 30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Recreation, just to name a few of my all time favorite TV shows.

I can’t even remember when I first started watching the Emmy’s , my mom, my sister and I love to watch them, we start by watching the red carpet and then we bet on who is going to win, we always have our favorites and sometimes we disagree on who’s the best, we have so much fun!

Social media gives us a bombshell of what’s happening in this event even before it starts, it is amazing how informed we are about everything that is happening around the world.

This year instead of just watching the red carpet I decided to do my own best and worst dressed list of the 66th Emmy Awards.

The best dressed in this years Emmys:

1.Kristen Wiig, one of the many white goddesses in a Vera Wang gown .

2.Michele Monoghan from True Detective in a white Giambattista Valli gown.

3.Sofia Vergara rocked her curves in a white Roberto Cavalli gown.

4.The Top Chef host and judge Padma Lakshmi in a minimalist Ralph Rucci gown.

5.Sarah Hyland from Modern Family in a Christian Siriano cropped top and skirt.

6.January Jones from Mad Men in a red Prabal Gurun gown.

7.Alison Janney in a gorgeous pink velvet Nicolas Jebron gown.

8.Hayden Panettiere from Nashville looked amazing in a Lorena Sorbu sequins dress.

9.Gwen Stefani from No Doubt in a two piece silver Ateliers Versace look.

10.Finally Lizzy Caplan in a classic Donna Karan gown.

The Worst:

1.Lena Dunham and her cotton candy looks, I love this girl especially her show Girls, she’s intelligent, confident and creative, everybody is always criticizing her about her weight and I must say that I admire how she is always happy about it and ignoring the haters, but this time she failed, I like the gown but with her height and body shape this Giambattista Valli dress looks simply bad on her.

2.Christina Hendrix, the voluptuous red headed from Mad Men almost always looks gorgeous with whatever she’s wearing, this year’s Marchesa dress wasn’t flattering at all, the tone of red with the golden ornament on her waist in made her look bigger than she actually is, finally the hairdo didn’t help.

3.Taryng Manning, the golden gown from the crazy girl from Orange is the New Back was one of the worst dresses ever, maybe a top model could make it work without any trouble but in this petite girl it looks tragic, especially by showing her feet.

4.The Oliver Tolentino blue gown that Mayim Bialik from The Big Bang Theory wore was a big fail, she looked older than she is, it’s a gown more fitted for the Queen of England than for a 38 years old actress.

5.Rose Leslie Ygritte from Game of Thrones choose a blue gown that wasn’t flattering at all, she is beautiful in and outside the show but I think she looked plain, she missed an oportunity of showing the beautiful girl she is.

The cast of the most famous TV shows in the world looked great and they did as every year their best to be the best dressed of the event, sadly sometimes they believe if they dress exotic, sexy, or really different than the usual they will be the center of attention but as they say, there’s not such thing as bad publicity and we are certainly talking about them.

My Recommendation: If you have an important event like a wedding you should always look for the perfect dress and by perfect I mean confortable, flattering and your size, choose a color, pattern and fabric that will accentuate your features, remember not all styles fit all, stars are a great reference as they come in all sizes and colors, they are a better reference than catwalk models from the latest runways, these events are a great source of inspiration for what’s hot this season as the best designers try to show off their latest creations in this award shows.

This year’s Emmys were great as usual but I must say I wanted the show and the cast of True Detective to win, maybe next year( if they do a second season).
